Read through the About Page on this site and you’ll quickly realize I’m big on personal growth. Not just in business, but across all other areas of my life as well. In fact, perhaps my largest motivator in writing this blog is to inspire you to seek similar personal growth yourself.
But pushing past your limits isn’t easy. Essential for starting a business? Yes. The foundation you’ll build your empire on? Sure. But easy? Not a chance.
Part of what makes this so hard is a lack of definition when it comes to what exactly makes our comfort zone so… comfortable. Why do we despise certain activities? Why do we prefer our familiar routines?
That’s why, I think the first step to massive personal growth in this area is to gain a better understanding of where you stand. Who are you? What makes you tick? What strengths can you double down on? What weaknesses should you seek to lessen?
How’s Your Self-Awareness?
Starting out as an entrepreneur is a scary time. In the beginning, we don’t know what we don’t know. We don’t have an understanding of what slows us down, of what we do really well, of the kind of people we work best with.
I’d encourage you to change that… quickly.
In business, lacking self-awareness is devastating. To rise above the competition quickly, you need to come to grips with your own personality and what exactly makes you tick.
Think you already know who you are? Let’s find out.
Ever taken a personality test? There’s a lot of questionable ones out there, but I’d encourage you to take a look at some of the more reputable, based-on-real-science, worth-your-time tests out on the market. Namely, these four:
- StrengthsFinder 2.0
- 16 Personalities
- Entrepreneurial Aptitude Test
These are four of the best tests you can take if you want to get an accurate understanding of your psyche. Not only do they have a significant amount of science backing them up, the insights you can gain from each are powerful.
Over the course of this week, I’ll be taking one of these tests each day. I’ll explain why it’s important, what my results mean, and how you might use your own results in your entrepreneurial career.
At the end of the five days, I’ll put together a wrap-up post with more detailed information.
Again, the idea here is self-awareness. If you haven’t taken these tests, I suggest you get started. The results they give you will help direct your journey and help you succeed.
How? Tune in tomorrow when I take the StrengthsFinder 2.0 and learn more.
